Paris is a city full of character, style and beauty, which makes it a must-see for any keen traveler visiting Europe. Whether it’s soaking up the spectacular views from the towers of the historical Cathedral, indulging in a late night picnic by the river Seine or chilling out in one of many awesome bars in the city, you’ll soon realize Paris has a lot to offer! Worried about time and money? Well there’s no need, because we’ve put together a list, full of hidden gems and little wonders, perfect for those on a budget and making a flying visit…
1. Visit the ‘wall of love’ and feel connected to the world.
Fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of the city? The love mural has been placed in a beautiful setting, far from the busy streets of central Paris. It’s made from 612 tiles of enamelled lava and has ‘I love you’ written on it in over 300 languages. To get there, hope on line 12 of the Metro, jump off at Abbesses station and head to the garden nearby. Go with a loved one, or a loved one-to-be and find the phrase in your home language, just don’t forget your camera!
2.Treat yourself to delicious drink in a pretty Parisian café
Traveling around is thirsty work, why not sit down and find your own piece of Paris in one of the cafés? They are excellent for people-watching, or simply for lovers of great French coffee. Whatever it is you love, the cafés are superb for absorbing the vibrant life of Paris! If you’re looking to splash out, we’d recommend Coutume Café for delicious coffee and wonderful food. However if you’re traveling on a budget, and want to sit back and enjoy a coffee with a great atmosphere for only a couple of Euros then head to Craft, located just minutes from the Canal Saint-Martin.
3.Watch the sun go down in one of the most beautiful parks Paris has to offer
The Parc des Buttes may be a little further from the other attractions, but is the perfect setting for an evening stroll so it’s completely worth it! Stunning scenery surrounds a tranquil lake, a 30m waterfall, stroll across the beautiful bridges and just take a moment to soak it all up. Get on the metro to Buttes-Chaumont, Botzaris and you’ll be there in no time!
4.Chill out and unwind with a late night picnic
Discover another side to nightlife in Paris. Allow yourself to be immersed in Parisian culture by the river Seine, join others and indulge in a midnight picnic full of treats and drinks. Just like the movie Midnight in Paris! We suggest perching down near Louvre for the best possible experience.
5.Witness breath-taking views of Paris
The Notre Dame Cathedral is easily up there with the most stunning pieces of architecture in the city. Don’t take our word for it though, see for yourself, climb the towers and view the city of light from up high. Did we mention that it’s free? Just make sure you plan ahead to avoid queues!
6.Devote an evening to a local Parisian bar and live, love and laugh!
You won’t find the Aux Folies bar empty, and when the sunsets the atmosphere transforms. This is a bar full of music and interesting people, and with a glass of wine costing €3.50 why would you go elsewhere? Come here for an authentic, colorful experience of the Parisian bar scene.
