We’ve probably heard every ill-conceived excuse under the sun as to why you ‘can’t go travelling’. Yet there are none more ridiculous than these 7. If you have used any of these in the past, we will forgive you just this once, but after reading our well thought out solutions, you won’t have any excuses left to use. Looks like it’s time to pack your bags and get on that flight!
1.“I don’t have the money”
All I can say is, if you can resist those post-night out cheesy chips or greasy kebabs, or relentlessly adding to your ever-expanding wardrobe, you can afford to save those pennies up to help fund the holiday of your dreams. There’s no denying it is tough going cold turkey on life’s luxuries, but even if you sacrificed the little things one at a time you could end up saving £100 each month, which could take you a long way if you find the right flights!
2.“I don’t have anyone to go with”
Now, I know the idea of exploring the big wide world alone might be a bit intimidating, but it is also 100{1e29904c885515873022ed5b62c6c7d923686363a219a3c356dc5ccea4ad6161} worthwhile. With no one else’s influence, you have the complete freedom to go where you want, and do what you want, when you want! And let’s face it, who’s a more perfect travel companion for you than you? Equally, travelling solo does not mean travelling alone. As you are experiencing new places, you’ll meet other like-minded wanders, some of whom you may end up drifting around with for a while and who may just become some of your pals for life.
3.“I just don’t have the time”
Come on now, if you’ve got a summer break between semesters, a reading week, or even a few days free from lectures, then you’ve got time to for the adventure of a lifetime! If travel is something you really want to do, then you can make time. We believe it’s all about planning ahead, which is what we’re here for! We’ve got you covered. But equally, if you REALLY don’t have the time, then this is your perfect opportunity to master the art of rapid travel, turning your few days off into mind-blowing adventures.
4.“I need to get a job straight after Uni”
Right, as students, we all have expenses and obligations that we need to sort out, but even with these, you can still budget in a trip or two if it’s what you want to do! Let’s face it, you’re not going to get those loans paid off for at least another 10 years, so you might as well forget about them for now and do something fun! But if you are still worried about the financial side of life, there are tonnes of job opportunities for travellers. Whether you organize to be involved in a teach English programme, work in a bar while you’re out there, or write some travel blogs like this one, there are plenty of opportunities for you to earn some quick cash whilst on your adventures.
5.“I hate flying”
Who ever said you have to fly to travel to the destination of your dreams? If it’s an overseas adventure you desire, then you can always make your way by boat. Most countries have car hire, trains and buses allowing you to make your own way to your destination without making you conquer your flying fears. With a bit of research, you can find a way to go anywhere without involving air travel. (Or if that’s too much effort, just come to us and we’ll do all the hard work for you).
6.“I have never travelled before”
Well now’s your chance! Newsflash honey, to make the most of life you have to step out of your comfort zone and try new things every once in a while. We know it can be overwhelming having to decide which travel destination would suit you best, but there are tonnes of travel blogs, brochures and websites you can look through before you commit. There are so many benefits of taking the challenge and trying something completely new. Trust me, there is no way you’ll regret it!
7.“I’ll do it next year”
Didn’t you say that last year? There are a few actual legitimate reasons to delay a trip, but simply not being ‘ready right now’ is not one of them! If you feel the urge to visit new and foreign lands, the time to act is now. Not next month, not next year, but NOW! There will always be an excuse not to do something, but isn’t it about time you made an excuse TO do something. We know you deserve it, so, in the wise words of Shia LaBeouf, “JUST DO IT!”
We’re tired of excuses. Life’s too short for maybes. Get out there and see the world!
