Day 1 Muscat / Nizwa / Jabreen / Jebel Shams
You’ll be picked up from your hotel at 8am and taken straight over to Nizwa fort – built atop a hill overlooking the ancient city, you have the perfect view of all its colourful domes and bustling markets. Continue on your journey to the fascinating villages of Al Hamra and Misfah. Al Hamra boasts ancient ruins and beautiful panorama views while Misfah is a typical Omani village that gives you a look into how locals used to live centuries ago – you’ll struggle to pick your favourite. Next up is 17th century Jabreen castle, the finest of Oman’s castles with its beautiful ceilings and intricate wood carvings. The day isn’t over yet! Make your way Wadi Ghul, the massive Grand Canyon of Oman – you’ll never have felt so small.

Day 2 Nizwa / Wadi Bani Khalid / Wahiba
You’ll begin the day in Nizwa to see Nizwa Fort, one of the oldest in Oman, and Nizwa Souq, a central market right outside. Haggle for pottery and silver jewellery (Nizwa’s silver craft is considered to be the best in the country!) then drive on over to Wadi Bani Khalid. Take in the sight of the serene pools and waterfalls of this verdant valley then it’s time to visit Wahiba Sands where you’ll tuck into a delicious picnic lunch in the desert. Don’t eat too fast (or too much) as an exhilarating round of dune bashing in a 4×4 is next! You’ll stop off for a ride atop a camel and then arrive at your camp. Settle down on plush Arabic carpets and amongst Cineraria trees. Dine on a traditional Arabic barbeque meal, munching on dates and sipping on Omani coffee and taken in the view of the golden sand dunes surrounding you. Bliss.

Day 3 Sur / Muscat
Travel to Sur and visit the fisherman’s harbour to witness the locals in action. Don’t overlook the Dhow building yard – traditional Omani wooden fishing boats are still built by hand, even today! Wadi Tiwi is your next destination, a spectacularly deep and narrow gorge carved out of the mountains. Head over to the white beaches of Finns for a scenic picnic for lunch. Definitely save some time to go and see the stunning Bimmah sinkhole, the result of a collapsing mountain. Take a dip in the vibrant, emerald-tinted waters of its 20m deep pool before hitting the road again through the village of Quriyat, guarded by its 18th century fort. You’ll be taken back to Muscat and dropped off at the airport or a hotel of your choice – your adventure is coming to an end!
