Barcelona In a Day By The Barcelona STA Travel Insider

Hola! Teresa here from STA Travel and your STA Travel Barcelona Insider. It’s day three of our Barcelona adventure and I can’t believe this epic adventure has come to an end, I woke up on my final day to sunshine and the sounds of this vibrant upbeat city at the Generator Hostel. This beautifully crafted hotel/hostel looks like something that came out of a mid-century modern design magazine, it’s definitely worth checking out when you plan your trip to Barcelona and when you do, you MUST at the swing chairs in the lobby. It’s truly a majestic experience!

Our first Barcelona Insider of the day was Brian, from Barcelona Street Scraps, a blog which looks at street art around the city. Brian met up with us at the beach, a lot of people don’t know that Barcelona has a beach, it felt a bit like Rio, a really cool city with a little bit of everything including a beautiful stretch of beach. Brian took us on a very cool quest to find what’s on the walls around the city currently, we walked from the Beach to the Free walls where artists can paint without fear of the police busting them all the way to the Gracia District. This is quite the trek guys so be sure to wear some comfy shoes.

After having a taste of Vermuth and resting our feet after the long walk, we went on a “Tapas and Flamenco Experience”, over some Vino Tinto (red wine) and Barceloní Jessica gave us the history of how Tapas came to be – and was full of other local insights: like the old folklore that whoever gets the spiciest pepper in the delicious pedron peppers tapas will have luck brought onto them! Sadly, we didn’t get the sipcy pepper this time, but maybe you will!

We hot footed it from here to see some real hot feet in action, at the local Flamenco show, which was fantastic to say the least – rhythm and fire and the sharpest moves in town! You can’t beat that. While Flamenco is truly a custom more south of Spain in the Andalucia region, this show is truly a must see when you’re in Barcelona.

Before we knew it, the sun went down and it was time for even more food! We were lucky to get a tip from the actor Ray Winstone, who told us about his favorite restaurant in the city “Assador De Aranda Tibidabo” and wow: one incredible dinner  – lamb, pork, ribs… it was a carnivores dream. Admittedly it’s not the cheapest, but I can tell you, it was worth every Euro! And as I mentioned a few times before, the food was a key part of us falling in love with Barcelona.

Once dinner was finished, it was time for a nightcap over looking the city at the top of Tibidabo, and a toast to the end of my time as the STA Travel Insider. A little bit out of the way from the hustle and bustle of the city in the Sant Andrew disctrict and in the popular you’ll find the coolest spot in town with jaw dropping views of Barcelona. Thank you for having me and I hope to see you all soon, Adios!
