Stand face to face with the Terracotta Warriors and marvel at the Temple of Heaven and other national treasures on this 12-day showcase of four diverse yet defining pieces of the Middle Kingdom. By crossing the country via train, you’ll go from the power of the Great Wall to the bright lights of Shanghai and through the karst scenery of Yangshuo. Discover China’s natural and cultural highlights with the perfect combination of included activities and free time to explore.
  • Day 1 Beijing

    Feel free to arrive in Beijing at any time today, as there are no planned activities. The group will meet around 18:00 for a welcome meeting. Please check for a notice from your CEO as to exactly where and when this important meeting will take place. Following the meeting, opt to join your CEO and fellow travellers for dinner where you can try some delicious Beijing cuisine.

  • Days 2-3 Beijing

    On Day 2 we set out early for a visit to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Here you can spend the day wandering from tower to tower along this magnificent feat of construction.

    Arrive back to Beijing in the late afternoon in time to check out an optional Shaolin Monk Kung Fu Show, a performance of Beijing Opera or the Beijing Acrobats.

    Day 3 visit the Forbidden City and Tiananmen square to learn the history these places. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven, a refuge for Chinese retirees practicing water calligraphy and tai chi. Tour the temple and learn the history of this intricate structure, historically only used twice a year.

    On the evening of Day 3, board an overnight sleeper train arriving to Xi’an early morning on Day 4. (12 hrs)

  • Days 4-5 Xi’an

    Arrive to Xi’an and follow your CEO on an orientation of the city to get your bearings. Opt to visit the top of the ancient city walls, which enclose the heart of the modern city. Here you can choose to walk or rent bikes, looking down over the side to see the everyday life down below. Opt to visit the Drum and Bell Towers, Xi’an’s famous innercity landmarks. In the evening, opt to stroll the Muslim Quarter, sampling the delicacies the area is known for.

    On Day 5, travel 45 minutes to the site of the sprawling pits of the Terracotta Warriors. Spend time here learning about the significance of these impressive statues and the man who had them commissioned. In the evening, board an overnight sleeper train to Shanghai.

  • Days 6-7 Shanghai

    Arrive to Shanghai and enjoy two days in this fascinating city. From the colonial influence to the futuristic skyline seen from the Bund, Shanghai is a diverse and unique place. Enjoy an orientation walk along the bund with your CEO and opt to visit the old Shanghai streets or Yuyuan Gardens in your free time. On the evening of Day 7, take an overnight sleeper train to Guilin.

  • Days 8-10 Yangshuo (1L)

    Arrive early in the morning to Guilin and transfer about 1.5 hours to the village town of Yangshuo. This will no doubt rate as one of your favorite spots in China and there’s plenty of time to explore and take part in the plethora of optional activities here. The scenery is picture perfect with limestone karsts jutting out of watery rice paddies.

    There are dozens of options for your free time in Yangshuo including cooking classes in the countryside, to tai chi on the river, calligraphy and painting, shopping in the local markets, walking along the river and over stone bridges, swimming, rock climbing, bamboo rafting or just spending time soaking up the scenery in one of the many tempting cafes around town.

    On Day 9, enjoy a full day cycle ride through the countryside with a local guide. Opt to climb up Moon Hill for spectacular views of the karsts or just rest up in a peaceful setting. Carry on by bike to a local farmer’s home for a delicious local lunch. Try beer fish, garlic fried water spinach and stuffed aubergine.

    On the evening of Day 10, travel back to Guilin train station to board the overnight train to Shenzhen, on the border with Hong Kong. (13 hrs)

  • Day 11 Hong Kong

    Arrive to Shenzhen in the late morning and cross the border on foot. From here, travel by metro to the hotel, arriving in late afternoon.

    There is so much to do in Hong Kong and so little time! Opt to spend some extra days here for the opportunity to visit Victoria Peak, the various islands, Stanley market and sample all the local dim sum.

    On your last night with the group, opt to take the Star Ferry and eat some amazing delicacies at the Temple Street Night Market in Kowloon.

  • Day 12 Hong Kong

    Depart at any time.
