Tour style – Learn & Volunteer

7 days

Spend your days volunteering at a sea turtle project on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. In your free time enjoy all that Playa Matapalo has to offer including surf lessons, relaxing on the beach and enjoying legendary sunsets
  • Summary

The Pacific Sea Turtle Project is a conservation initiative undertaken to protect endangered sea turtles and their nests, and improve the chance for survival of hatchlings on Matapalo Beach. Using man-made turtle hatcheries (called ‘viveros’) to protect turtle eggs and joining in vigilant beach patrols, volunteers provide vital resources and support.

  • How you make a difference

Volunteering in this small town on this turtle conservation project means you are helping to keep a vital turtle protection program going – these programs need volunteers because they do not have enough funding to hire enough staff needed. Additionally you are supporting the local community’s small businesses such as surf instructors, horseback riding rentals, even the convenience store, thereby contributing to the local economy.
