Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria & Czech Republic Our Festive Trek is now legendary and considered one of the best trips available to travellers wanting a proper celebration combined with a unique cultural experience. Have a white Christmas skiing in the Polish Alps, then an incredible firework display in Prague on New Year’s Eve. So popular has this trek become, we are now running the original itinerary and another in reverse. Both treks meet in Budapest on Boxing Day for the party to end all parties!

  • Itinerary

    Day 1: 22 December – Krakow This morning half the group will start the day with breakfast before setting off on the famous Krakow walking tour to discover a city bursting at the seams with history, culture, adventure and good value shopping.  Explore the castle district, the Jewish quarter and the historic old town and have a wander through the Christmas markets before some free time when you can visit the Royal Salt Mines.  The other half will begin the Trek with a day trip to Auschwitz to learn more about one of the most tragic periods and events in recent history, before an evening in Kazimierz all together discovering the spirit and festive vibe of Krakow at Christmas.
    Day 2: 23 December – Krakow For those who visited Auschwitz and Birkenau yesterday today we’ll join the famous Krakow walking tour, whilst those who explored the city on day one will head out to Auschwitz for a sobering appraisal of times gone by.  In the evening we’ll all head to Diva nightclub for the Busabout welcome party, a night to remember in the heart of Krakow and a brilliant welcome on tour. 
    Day 3: 24 December – Krakow to Zakopane We set off early to make the most of the day ahead. After checking into our cosy alpine lodge, check out the slopes of the Tatra Mountains, or simply soak up the Christmas atmosphere in the picturesque alpine town of Zakopane. Midnight mass is a must for the Polish; join the locals for this amazing spiritual experience and savour a truly central European Christmas Eve.  Tonight we’ll experience a typical Polish Christmas meal and have our secret santa; a fun and delicious end to a perfect day.
    Day 4: Christmas Day – Zakopane Food, wine and good company – experience a real ‘white Christmas’ in the heart of Eastern Europe! Christmas dinner is all included; an alpine highland fest, with lots of Christmas cheers, drinks and top cuisine.  Spend the afternoon on the slopes, have a ski lesson or simply soak up the festive atmosphere before the celebrations tonight.  Dinner starts at 7pm and we’ll party in to the night, celebrating Christmas in true Busabout style.
    Day 5: Boxing Day – Zakopane to Budapest It’s time to head south to famous Budapest. Stop en-route in Donovally, one of Slovakia’s most well known ski regions, for lunch and a quick toboggan run! We arrive in Budapest in time for an evening of Boxing Day celebrations with an orientation drive and a karaoke night on board the good ship Budapest. Our night cruise is your chance to star with the mic and karaoke the night away on the Danube.
    Day 6: 27 December – Budapest A day at leisure in this fascinating city. Melt the day away with a thermal bath and a massage. Shop ’til you drop at the endless sales and boutiques. Get to know the city’s nooks and crannies onboard the Busabout hop on, hop off coach, or simply relax and people watch in the hip cafe district.
    Day 7: 28 December – Budapest to Bratislava to Vienna Leaving Budapest, we slip back into Slovakia to visit the capital – Bratislava. Meander through the cobble stone streets and enjoy lunch at one of the many happening restaurants and cafes. Tonight is spent in Vienna, the gateway to the East. On arrival we’ll visit the famous Schnapps museum and sample some Bulls blood, for a truly memorable first experience in this awesome city.
    Day 8: 29 December – Vienna Today is yours to discover Vienna. Warm up with some Gluhwein at the Christmas markets, explore the old town in all its splendour, take your pick from the many museums or get up close and personal with Hundertwasser, Austria’s very own Gaudi. For the cultured, there’s even the opportunity to witness a famous Viennese concert. Vienna’s 1st district is second to none for history and sights, so a nice cultured stop before the build up to New Year begins. 
    Day 9: 30 December – Vienna to Cesky Krumlov Today, we continue on towards the Czech Republic, arriving in Cesky Krumlov in time for some sightseeing around this quaint UNESCO listed city and an evening of Czech specialities.
    Day 10: New Year’s Eve – Cesky Krumlov to Prague New Year’s Eve! We make a nice early start and head the short distance to Prague to get ready for the celebrations. We will orientate you around Prague, checking out all the highlights before our final night and a New Year’s to remember with some amazing fireworks over the Vlatava!
    Day 11: New Year’s Day – Prague Trek finishes after breakfast
