Kick-start your adventure in Gondar. Grab your boots for a hike in the Simien Mountains in search of the Gelada baboon then take a tour in Axum, Ethiopia’s oldest city. Head to Mekele for the intriguing rock-hewn churches of Tigray then discover the medieval town of Lalibela to unlock the history within its churches. Next, is the Bahir Dar where you’ll cross the dramatic Blue Nile Gorge and on to Dejen.

Savour some tasty food in Addis and enjoy the local music before you cruise Lake Ziway to Tulu Gudo Island on a chilled-out boat tour. Search for the Simien fox in the Bale Mountains National Park, bathe in the gorgeous hot springs in Wendo Genet before lending a helping hand to the Children’s Project. Travel on to Arba Minch and get snappy at the Crocodile Market! Next, browse the local markets and small tribal settlements in the remote Omo Valley Region.

Day 34-52 Konso / Moyale / Samburu / Nakuru / Lake Naivasha / Nairobi / Ziwa / Murchison
Scour the local handicraft markets in Konso and travel through the black lunar landscape and on to the Samburu National Reserve. More fantastic scenery awaits as you travel to the slopes of Mt Kenya. Leaving the mountains behind, head to the shores of Lake Naivasha for some chill-out time by the lakeside. You’ll then cross the border into Uganda for stunning views of the White Nile before a stay at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and chimpanzee trekking at Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 53-66 Kampala / Lake Mburo / Lake Bunyoni / Queen Elizabeth / Jinja / Eldoret / Nairobi
Explore Lake Mburo National Park then Lake Bunyonyi to see some of its spectacular birdlife and wildlife. Camp on the shores of the lake at a stunning location surrounded by wildlife. Next, enter Rwanda for gorilla tracking in beautiful Volcanoes National Park, then cross back into Uganda to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, well-known for pelicans, eagles, hippos, elephants and lions. Passing Jinja, you’ll be off to the cheese town of Eldoret. Your next stop is Nairobi for a Maasai Mara
National Reserve where you can opt to go on a hot-air balloon flight. -
Day 67-81 Arusha / Serengeti / Mto Wa Mbu / Dar Es Salaam / Zanzibar / Kande
From the outskirts of Arusha, prepare for an awesome (but slightly scary) night-time experience in the Serengeti, surrounded by only the sounds of the many nocturnal animals! You’ll then get to spend the night on the rim of the world famous Ngorongoro Crater. Visit the Mto Wa Mbu community village
project before heading to Dar es Salaam, where you can kick back on a balmy beach outside of the city. Next stop is the ‘Spice Island’ of Zanzibar, then Kande Beach on the shore of Lake Malawi for the chance to kick back and mingle with friendly local Malawians. -
Day 82-92 Lilongwe / Luangwa River / Lower Zambezi / Victoria Falls
Browse the many markets and shops for any one-of-a-kind souvenirs then hit the road for a game drive in the South Luangwa National Park. Jump on board a canoe and paddle down the Lower Zambezi area staying in camps in little islands along the way. Next, head to the tumbling waters of the stunning Victoria Falls. Why not get your adrenalin-pumping and try white water rafting?

Day 91-114 Hwange N.P. / Matobo / Delta / Etosha / Cape Cross / Cape Town
Take a game drive in the Hwange National Park, explore the Matobo National Park in search for black and white rhinos then cross into Botswana to the awesome salt pans of Makgadikgadi. Explore the Delta’s fascinating eco-system by a small dugout canoe, keep your eyes peeled for the big five in Etosha National Park then gawp at the gorgeous seals in Cape Cross. The final leg of your journey takes you to the fabled dunes of Namibia, the Fish River Canyon, finishing in cosmopolitan Cape Town where you can hit vibrant Kloof Street to start celebrating your adventure!
