If you love children, you will love this volunteer project! Spend from 2-12 weeks helping look after the babies, toddlers and youths of a Cape Town orphanage. Help with daily life such as feeding, teaching, playing and cuddling, as well as experiencing vibrant Cape Town life!
  • Project Snapshot

Cape Town is truly one of the world`s most beautiful cities, but there is more to life here than glitz and glamour! Experience another side of Cape Town by volunteering with Cape Town`s deprived children. Based at either an orphanage for babies and toddlers (aged newborn-5 ears) or a combination of working at a primary school in the mornings and the orphanage for children and teens (aged 5-7) in the afternoon.

In the younger orphanage, the babies and toddlers are hungry for love and attention and are in need of being changed, fed and held all through the day. The home has a lovely play area outside, as well as a crèche where the infants` learning can be stimulated. At the orphanage they try hard to be more like a family than an institution — there is also a strong focus on trying to reunite the child with its natural family if possible. These children are wards of the state waiting to be adopted, either coming through children`s court after having been removed from abusive families or abandoned very young.
