This unique project runs alongside an award-winning Philippine based NGO that aims to eradicate the country’s poverty through creating sustainable communities. Immerse yourself in its ‘Enchanted Farm’; a thriving hub for social entrepreneurs who are building high quality businesses. You’ll volunteer through teaching children English and maths, cooking, farming and supporting entrepreneurs in their day-to-day tasks. A two-day social business camp is also included, giving you the opportunity to explore your passions and develop business plans. On your final day, visit Manila where you can either coach football to underprivileged kids or help out at a local school through teaching art and crafts.
  • Volunteering Project Details

    Discover the work of some of the most inspiring NGOs in the Philippines including Gawad Kalinga (GK). GK has already transformed the lives of over one million Filipinos nationwide by building 2,400 sustainable communities for the ‘landless, the homeless and the hungry’. The GK Enchanted Farm, where volunteers will stay, is a unique farm-village-university setting which has become a thriving hub for local and international social entrepreneurs who are building high-quality businesses which provide jobs and opportunities to the local community.

  • Your Role

    Learn about the rapidly growing field of social entrepreneurship – in which the power of business is unleashed to bring opportunities to the poor. Spend time with local and international entrepreneurs, become inspired by their commitment to help end poverty and discover how you, too, can design a career full of passion and purpose.

    Example of an Itinerary:

    Day 1: Volunteers will arrive into Manila today and be transferred to the Enchanted Farm to being their volunteering experience.
    Today is a relax day to spend at your leisure.

    Day 2:Today volunteers will visit Transforming Urban Community in Metro Manila. Here you will learn about the transformation from former urban slum dwellers into a community and help prepare a typical Filipino meal.

    Day 3-4: Take a 2 day introductory course in social enterprise, led by local entrepreneurs. This is the chance to discover your passions, partner with local people to develop business plans – and no previous experience necessary!

    Day 5-9: For the next few days volunteers will be helping at the Enchanted Farm – tasks will vary depending on what the project needs at any one time.
    Volunteers will be teaching, cooking, farming and assisting social entrepreneurs.

    Day 10: Today volunteers will head to the bustling city of Manila to assist football coaches in an underprivileged urban community.
    For those who aren’t so keen on football you can help out in the local school with arts and crafts.
    In the afternoon you will get the chance to hone your bargaining skills at one of Manila’s most famous markets!

    The tour will end at 4pm and passengers can head off for their onward travel.

  • How you will make a difference

    Volunteers will immerse themselves in transforming communities and will make a valuable contribution through teaching children English or Math, mentoring teenagers and coaching football (optional). Volunteers will discover the warmth of Filipino hospitality as they assist with cooking and/or farming activities, and will meet and assist social entrepreneurs.
