8 days

The worst part of resort vacations? Trying to find a spot to lay out your blanket on a crowded beach. Solution: Visit Jordan! The beach never ends here (okay, technically it’s the Arabian Desert, but still…), and there’s way more to do here besides laying about and catching rays. Grab the kids and gape at the ancient rock-cut city of Petra one day, hike magnificent Wadi Rum the next, then snorkel the coral reefs of Aqaba and float in the Dead Sea a few days later. Good luck doing all that at an all-inclusive!
  • Day 1 Amman (1D)

Arrive at any time. An included transfer from the airport to our starting hotel is included. Once we are in Amman, there is time to visit the Children’s Museum. Designed just for kids, the museum is built in several sections, so you and the kids can learn about a wide variety of skills and activities. After a flight, it’s a great way to keep the kinds engaged, and the perfect introduction to what Jordan has to offer. This evening, there will be a welcome meeting where you will meet your CEO and the other families who will be joining your adventure.

  • Day 2 Petra (1B)

We set off from Amman this morning, on the way out to Petra. Along the route, we stop at Karak, where we stop at Wadi Ibn Hammad for a gorge walk. The fertile land in the valley here creates an incredible landscape of trees, waterfalls and rock formations that we can walk through. In places, the water can be quite deep, so be careful not to lose your footing. We continue on to Petra, where we stay for the night.

  • Day 3 Petra (1B)

We wake this morning and visit Jordan’s most famous site. The Nabatean city of Petra is simply awe-inspiring and a must-see on any traveller’s list. Approached through the siq (gorge), the city remains hidden until you are almost upon the ruins themselves. Today we have a full day to explore the site, and marvel at the engineering feat that makes up the city. It’s easy to believe yourself to be one of the ancient explorers here, as we wander in awe among the Treasury and the Monastery.

  • Day 4 Wadi Rum (1B,1D)

This morning we have a different view of Petra, as we pick up bikes and cycle around the ruins. This gives us a different perspecitve on the ruins, as well as letting us enjoy the whizzing around the site on two wheels. This afternoon, we drive out to the desert at Wadi Rum, and camp out for the night. The clear night sky here is the ideal place for some star gazing. We take a look at the stars from the desert, and can learn all about the constellations. See how many of these you can name.

  • Day 5 Aqaba (1B,1L)

We take off into the desert today, using 4X4 vehicles for our transportation. Bumping over the dunes and open expanses of sand, we will see the sheer size of the desert, as well as some of the major sites of the region. The Seven Pillars of Wisdom rock formation, made famous by T.E. Lawrence, looms out of the desert. We pause here, and it is easy to imagine ourselves transported back in time to join Lawrence as he crossed the desert. To get closer to this experience, there is the option of taking a camel ride across the desert. As we leave the desert behind us, we transfer to the coastal town of Aqaba for the night.

  • Day 6 Aqaba (1B)

The Red Sea is world famous for the it’s clear blue water. A boat trip out on the coral reef will allow us to see everything under the waves. The variety of brightly coloured fish and marine life make this an experience that will never be forgotten.

  • Day 7 Dead Sea (1B,1L)

From the Red Sea to the Dead Sea today. The Dead Sea is actually a lake, without any from of life whatsoever existing in its waters. The water is so dense that it is practically impossible to sink, being five to ten times as salty as regular sea water. We base ourselves at a resort for the day, where you will have access to the beach. While swimming, cover yourself with the sea’s mud, which is reputed to have special healing powers, and don’t forget to take a photo of yourself reading a book while floating! You will notice that the salt penetrates any cuts on your body and has an unusual smell, but there are showers to wash off under after swimming. Afterwards, while away under an umbrella next to one of the fresh water swimming pools, and we spend the night here.

  • Day 8 Amman (1B)

We return to Amman this morning, then we transfer to the airport where the trip ends. Please don’t book onward travel on Day 8 until after 3pm.
