Tonight we reminisce over our day with some dinner and drinks.
Day 2: Chiang Rai to Pak Beng It’s an early morning start to make the most out of the day ahead. We cross the border to Laos, and once our visas are stamped we begin our leisurely trip along the Mekong on our own private long boat. Read a book, take photos, or chill out and chat to your travel mates. We arrive in Pakbang for our overnight stay. Take a stroll around this small village before meeting your Guide for dinner and a few drinks. It’s probably time to try the local tipple – Lao Lao (rice whiskey).
Day 3: Pak Beng to Luang Prabang Back on the boat this morning! Today we’re off to the UNESCO world heritage site of Luang Prabang. We stop by PAK OU caves to stretch the legs and capture a bit of the spectacular countryside. This evening we arrive at what will be our home for the next two nights.
Day 4: Luang Prabang No boat today, but plenty of amazing things to do. In the morning you can catch the Buddhist monks peacefully strolling around collecting alms. You can head to the beautiful Kwang Si waterfalls (awesome spots for jumping in!), and climb Phousi Hill to get a great view for sunset. There are also some awesome local buffet style eateries here, yum yum!
Day 5: Luang Prabang to Phonsavan After breakfast we head to Phonsavan on our private transfer. On the way we stop at a local roadside café for fried rice, noodles and fruit. The destination today is a unique blend of mortifying modern history and intriguing ancient sights. Before dinner we learn about the work being done to remove some of the leftover unexploded mines from the ‘Secret War’. In the evening we’ll go to one of the war themed restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Day 6: Phonsavan Visit the famous ‘Plain of Jars’. Hundreds of these huge stone jars are found scattered around the area. The Jars are so big and amazing that you can fit your entire body in them! No one is exactly certain what they were used for but the techniques used to make them are an amazing into between prehistoric technology. Either that or you can believe the local legend: Giants made them to store booze! In the evening we can go to our favourite small quirky restaurant, the destination for the best grub.
Day 7: Phonsavan to Vang Vieng Did someone say ‘party town’? Yes they did, but they should have also said ‘incredibly-beautiful-outdoor-adventure-town’. Vang Vieng is our destination and we arrive here in time for you check out the town, grab a boat up the river and take some lovely sunset photos. We meet for dinner, and quite possibly a bar crawl in the evening.

Join in the kayaking, rafting, rockclimbing, caving trips, or hike to the Kaeng Nyui waterfalls. The options are endless.
Day 9: Vang Vieng to Vientiane Off to the Laotian capital we go. This centre depicts the tragedies of the war in a very engaging manner. An essential component of any trip to this war-ravaged region of the world. Once we arrive we go for an orientation walk. This city is unique in that it is probably the most ‘village-like’ capital city you’ll ever experience! It’s the last night on tour so get emotional over dinner, eat the best food in Laos, talk about those memories and join us for some farewell drinks.
Day 10: Vientianne Our trip ends after breakfast. Why not head to Hanoi to join our Vietnam trip and continue the adventure!
