Tour style – Learn & Volunteer

15 days

This volunteering travel package enables participants to provide education, care and empowerment to the communities they visit. Working in local schools, volunteers offer much needed support to local teachers, adding to the children’s educational experience by instructing classes while helping to develop students’ positive attitudes about personal hygiene and school attendance. Working in local schools gives volunteers a chance to meet regularly with local children and their families. When schools are not in session, volunteers utilize resources provided by Idex and the community to run independent classes in English and Math. Volunteers also teach at special schools for mentally challenged children, providing much needed emotional support and teaching educational and vocational skills. For those volunteers with a professional interest in education, this opportunity offers a chance to hone skills in a unique environment.

Volunteers may also assist in local child-care centers, known as Aanganbari. Unfortunately, Aanganbaris suffer from under funding and mismanagement. Volunteers share the work load with regular staff and help bring a level of professionalism, dedication and the community’s attention to these important institutions. In addition to this work, volunteers will have ample opportunity for experiencing local cultures and lifestyles as well as plenty of free time to travel further a field and combine volunteer work with well-earned R&R!
