New Zealand is known as the adventure capital of the world, and for good reason! Where else can you go skiing, surfing, bungee jumping, volcano trekking, snorkeling, and glacier hiking, all on one trip? No where! New Zealand is an adrenaline junkie’s paradise and we’ve picked our favorite adventures:
- Snorkel Goat Island – Just 1.5 hours from Auckland, this tiny island off the North Island is a snorkeler’s paradise. We’re talking marine life for days here! Have your underwater camera ready as you swim next to dolphins, snapper, crayfish, and more.
- Hike Franz Josef Glacier – Sure you may have hiked mountains and trails, but how often do you get to hike a glacier? If you’re not the best hiker, try helihiking, where a helicopter takes you up the mountain. When you need a break, change into your swimsuit and hop in a thermal pool.
- Bike the Otago Central Rail Trail – This 150km trail is the perfect way to bounce around from city to city, giving you the ultimate local experience. We suggest hopping on a bike and riding from vineyard to vineyard, sampling the incredible wine that makes this region famous.
- Kayak Milford Sound – Often described as the “8th Wonder of the World”, Milford Sound is a must-see for anyone traveling to New Zealand. This incredible fjord is home to breathtaking water, mountains, waterfalls, dolphins, and penguins. It’s best explored by kayak – letting you get around all the nooks and crannies of this incredible place, discovering hidden beaches along the way!
- Bungee Jumping – New Zealand knows bungee jumping – the sport was practically invented here. Prove how brave you are by jumping off the first commercial bungee jump site – Kawarau Bridge. Our interns did it.
Now quit dreaming about a New Zealand adventure, and start planning your own!
